Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be registered to book an emergency appointment?

No, you may come for an emergency appointment even if this is to be your first appointment. We will be happy to register you as a new patient.

What constitutes a dental emergency?

A dental emergency is a severe pain or a broken tooth / detached crown that cannot wait to be assessed during a routine examination.

What is the difference between a routine examination and an emergency appointment?

During an emergency appointment our aim is to alleviate the pain or to fix the tooth (at least temporarily) while during a routine assessment we provide a full examination without treatment. Therefore, if you have any issues that you wish to address but are not in pain or in urgency, we would recommend booking a full examination.

What will happen at your emergency appointment?

The aim of the emergency appointment is to alleviate the pain or discomfort you present. The appropriate action depends on the problem which the dentist will assess, advise you upon and discuss the potential treatment options with you on the day.

Will the treatment be provided on the same day?

Depending on clinical needs, the treatment may require a longer appointment to fix permanently. During an emergency appointment we will do our best to fix the problem, but depending on the complexity of the case, you may have to come back for the permanent treatment on another day.

What if I just want you to get me out of pain – will I be able to go back to my own dentist?

Absolutely! As our aim is to get you out of pain or to temporise the tooth causing a problem, if you wish to return to your registered dentist for the permanent treatment, we will be happy to concentrate on a temporary solution.
