New and improved smiles don’t happen overnight. Cosmetic procedures to improve your smile include tooth whitening, veneers, inlays/onlays, crowns and bridges.

Teeth Whitening

As with every other dental treatment, when it comes to tooth whitening, every patient is different. Patients with different lifestyles and smiles are unlikely to need the same treatment. To accommodate the patients varying needs, we offer two different whitening systems:

Our most popular system has always been Enlighten Whitening – not only can it whiten teeth up to 16 shades, it is also the fastest whitening system we offer. Due to the shade guarantee, your dentist can advise in advance about the exact shade that is achievable with this treatment.

For most patients our other whitening system is equally suitable – Novon Whitening is a home whitening system allowing you to whiten your teeth at your convenience in the comfort of your home or on your way to work – or even at work! The activating ingredient is Carbamide Peroxyde which takes about 1-2 hours of wear time a day for the best effect.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do they work?

The treatment itself is done when it is convenient for you – at home, on the way to work (or from work), while cooking or relaxing… Don’t let us dictate you when to do it. First we get some custom made whitening trays made for you by an approved laboratory. We then teach you how to fill them with the whitening gel and provide the necessary instructions and the gel itself. You wear the trays between 1 and 2 hours a day until you are happy with the result. And this is literally all the magic that goes into turning your teeth white!

What is the difference?

Enlighten Whitening has a shade guarantee – which means if you don’t achieve the agreed upon shade (this is why we need an assessment before jumping into it immediately), we refund the cost of the treatment. Although it is a home based system, if clinically necessary, the dentist may provide an in-house session as well. The main ingredient of Novon Whitening is 16% Carbamide Peroxyde – Enlighten Whitening uses Hydrogen Peroxyde (of different strengths).

Which one is better?

Both systems are reliable (the chemicals in both gels have been used in dentistry for over a century), effective and comfortable. However, if you prefer a peace of mind and know that you get the result for your investment and don’t have overly sensitive teeth (allowing a faster treatment) – we recommend Enlighten. However, if you are in no rush to achieve results, have sensitive teeth or just don’t need to make a big difference – Novon Whitening is a perfect all rounder. To make sure you get the best and most suitable one for your needs, please discuss your expectations and questions with your dentist at your next examination.

We are happy to offer NHS examinations and emergency appointments to everyone who are entitled to NHS treatments. However, as the NHS provides clinically necessary treatment to secure and maintain oral health, there are some treatments (mainly cosmetic), which are not available on the NHS; you may chose to have these done privately. Your dentist will be happy to discuss all your treatment options during your assessment.
